Seventeen debuted in May 2015 under the agency Pledis Entertainment. The thirteen members, composed of S.Coups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, DK, Mingyu, The8, Seungkwan, Vernon, and Dino, have self-produced their own music and choreography since the beginning. In South Korea, they earned the reputation for being a powerhouse K-pop group or “performance kings” thanks to their high-energy and incredible synchronization when performing on stage. In 2015, the group debuted with the single, “Adore U,” which entered Billboard’s US World Digital Song Sales, peaking at number 13. The single preceded their debut album, 17 Carat, which peaked at number 8 on the World Albums chart and 4 in South Korea. The group’s fandom name was aptly named “Carat,” same as the band’s debut album.

In 2017, the boy band released the massive hit single, “Don’t Wanna Cry,” from the EP A/1. The song became their first number 1 single in Korea and peaked at number 3 on the World’s Digital Song Sales chart. The single also won the group the award for Best Dance Performance for a Male Group at the Prestigious Mnet Asian Music Awards. The group’s second number 1 single, “Home,” was released in 2019. The single preceded the extended play, You Make My Dawn, topped the Korean and Japanese charts, and peaked at number 4 on the World Digital Song Sales countdown. This 2022, Seventeen will release their fourth album, Face the Sun. The album will feature their latest singles, “Darl+ing” and “Hot.”
